Deep, moody blue. Sharp maroon. Charcoal grey. This unisex Kimono has serious attitude.
Rich royal blue and maroon Irish linen, adorned with flowers, are woven through the mix, bringing beautiful texture and unexpected softness to a traditionally masc. colourway. Hold up, that's not all.
And then there’s the hanger…
Every gathered kimono comes with its own bespoke coat hanger, specially chosen to complement its colours, fabrics and general loveliness.
Because a one of a kind Kimono deserves a one of a kind place to hang (out).
The black & white stripes interrupt the mood with a distinctly 80s vibe. A little graphic, a little bold and somehow, right where it should be. At its heart is a vintage KEA New Zealand wool blanket, 100% wool, rescued and reimagined into something entirely new. Vintage wool dressing gown and curtaining. A feature of the Kea Kimono is the bland & white band. It has a little more structure than some of our softer fabrics, giving this kimono’s collar a lovely sculptural shape, that sits firmly and slightly higher around the neck. It’s part of what makes this particular kimono, wonderfully its own. We don’t make cookie cutter garments. We tell stories out of fabric that’s lived before and gets to live again.
The shape is a classic kimono: an open robe with long, drop sleeves and a front pocket. This is a free-size piece and comfortably fits approximately
NZ sizes 14 –26.
Underarm to underarm: 68cm
Length: 118cm
Don’t ask me how, but this Sisterhood of the Travelling Kimono is a little bit enchanting. It has a rather uncanny knack for looking absolutely fabulous on whoever happens to slip it on.
Rich, moody, unexpected and completely one of a kind. Just like you, babes.
